Saturday of the XXIX Week in Ordinary Time

Saturday, October 24, 2026 Reading from the letter of the Apostle Saint Paul to the Ephesians (4:7-16): Grace has been given to each of us according to the measure of the gift of Christ. That is why the Scripture says: «He went up on high, taking captives, and gave gifts to men.» The «went up» means that he had descended to the depths of the earth; and the one who came down is the same one who ascended above all the heavens to fill the universe. And he has appointed some apostles, others prophets, others evangelizers, others pastors and teachers, for the perfecting of the saints, according to their ministry, and for the edification of the body of Christ; until we all reach unity in faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, to the perfect man, to the measure of Christ in his fullness. So that we are no longer children tossed by the waves and carried to the rhetoric by every wind of doctrine, in the trap of men, which cunningly leads to error; but that, realizing the truth in love, we make all things grow towards him, who is the head: Christ, from whom the whole body, well adjusted and united through the entire complex of joints that nourish it, acting to the measure of each part, seeks the growth of the body, for the construction of itself in love Word of God Jerusalem is founded as a very compact city. There the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord. R/. According to the custom of Israel, to celebrate the name of the Lord; In it are the courts of justice, in the palace of David. R/.
