Thursday of the XXX Week in Ordinary Time

Thursday, October 29, 2026 Reading of the letter of the apostle Saint Paul to the Ephesians (6:10-20): Seek your strength in the Lord and in his invincible power. Put on the weapons that God gives you, to be able to resist the devil’s stratagems, because our fight is not against men of flesh and blood, but against the principalities, authorities and powers that dominate this world of darkness, against the superhuman and supreme forces of evil. Therefore, take the weapons of God, to be able to resist on the fatal day and, after acting thoroughly, maintain your positions. Stand firm, I repeat: fasten the belt of truth, put on justice as your armor; well shod to be ready to announce the Gospel of peace. And, of course, have the shield of faith embraced, where the incendiary arrows of the evil one will be extinguished. Take salvation as your helmet and that of the Spirit as your sword, that is, the word of God, insisting and asking in prayer. Pray on all occasions with the help of the Spirit. Have vigils in which you pray constantly for all the saints. Also pray for me, so that God opens my mouth and grants me words that fearlessly announce the mystery contained in the Gospel, of which I am an ambassador in chains. Ask that I have the courage to speak of him as I should. Word of God I make myself safe, my shield and my refuge, that the people subdue me. R/. My God, I will sing to you a new song, I will play for you the ten-stringed harp: for you who give victory to kings, and save David, your servant. R/.
