Tuesday of the XXIX Week in Ordinary Time

Tuesday, October 20, 2026 Reading of the letter of the Apostle Saint Paul to the Ephesians (2:12-22): Before you did not have a Messiah, you were foreigners to the citizenship of Israel and alien to the institutions that bear the promise. In the world you had neither hope nor God. Now, however, you are in Christ Jesus. Now, through the blood of Christ, you who were once far away are near. He is our peace. He has made the two peoples one thing, breaking down with his flesh the wall that separated them: hatred. He has abolished the Law with its commandments and rules, making peace, to create with the two, in him, one new man. He reconciled the two peoples with God, uniting them into a single body through the cross, putting to death, in him, hatred. He came and brought news of peace: peace to you who are far away; peace also to those close by. Thus, each of us can approach the Father with the same Spirit. Therefore, you are no longer foreigners or strangers, but you are citizens of the saints and members of the family of God. You are built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, and Christ himself. Jesus is the cornerstone. Through him the entire building is assembled, and it rises until it forms a temple consecrated to the Lord. Through him you also become integrated into the construction, to be the dwelling place of God, through the Spirit. Word of God peace to his people and his friends. Salvation is now close to its faithful, and glory will dwell in our land. R/. Mercy and fidelity meet, justice and peace kiss; Faithfulness springs from the earth, and justice looks down from heaven. R/. The Lord will give us rain, and our land will give its fruit. Justice will march before him, salvation will follow in his footsteps. R/.
