Tuesday, October 27, 2026 Reading from the letter of the Apostle Saint Paul to the Ephesians (5:21-33): Be submissive to one another with Christian respect. Women, let them submit to their husbands as to the Lord; because the husband is the head of the wife, just as Christ is the head of the Church; he, who is the savior of the body. For as the Church submits to Christ, so also wives submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives as Christ loved his Church. He gave himself for her, to consecrate her, purifying her with the bath of water and the word, and to place her glorious before him, the Church, without spot or wrinkle or anything like that, but holy and immaculate. This is how husbands should also love their wives, as their bodies. Loving your wife is loving yourself. For no one has ever hated his own flesh, but gives it food and warmth, as Christ does with the Church, because we are members of his body. “Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” This is a great mystery: and I refer it to Christ and the Church. In a word, let each of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife respect her husband. Word of God olive tree, around your table. R/. This is the blessing of the man who fears the Lord. May the Lord bless you from Zion, may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life. R/.
