Holy Rosary

The rosary (from the medieval Latin rosarium, and this from the Latin rosarium ‘rose garden’) means “Crown of Roses”. It is a traditional Catholic prayer that commemorates twenty mysteries (fifteen in the traditional form) of the life of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary, reciting after announcing each of them an “our father”, ten “hail Marys” and a “glory to the Father”. It is frequently designated as Holy Rosary by Catholics. “The Church has always recognized a particular effectiveness of the Rosary, entrusting to it, through its communal recitation and constant practice, the most difficult causes”; Saint John Paul II said: “Through the rosary the faithful receive abundant graces, from the very hands of the Mother of the Redeemer.”
