On the occasion of the solemnity of the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION, a VIGIL mass is organized on December 7, 2020. It will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the parish of San Francisco de Ciutadella. At 8:00 p.m. the Archpriest Vigil will take place. In this archpriest vigil for vocations we will ask the intercession of Mary Immaculate so that young people are generous in following the call of the Lord to the priesthood or consecrated life.

Happy Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception
The Church celebrates the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is the dogma of faith according to which the Mother of Jesus was preserved from sin from the moment of her conception. That is, from the moment his human life began. In the middle of the 19th century, Pope Pius IX, after receiving numerous requests from bishops and faithful from all over the world, before more than 200 cardinals, bishops, ambassadors and thousands of Catholic faithful, declared with his bull “Ineffabilis Deus”: “That the doctrine that maintains that the Blessed Virgin Mary was preserved immune from all stain of original guilt in the first instant of her conception by the singular grace and privilege of omnipotent God, in attention to the merits of Christ Jesus, Savior of the human race, is revealed by God and must therefore be firmly and constantly believed by all the faithful…» In Rome a large number of carrier pigeons were sent in all directions carrying the great news. And in the 400 thousand Catholic temples of the world, great festivals were celebrated in honor of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. A little more than three years later, in one of her appearances in Lourdes, the Virgin Mary appeared before the humble shepherdess Saint Bernadette Soubirous with these words: “I am the Immaculate Conception.” Currently there are thousands of churches dedicated to this dedication around the world and millions of faithful have a particular devotion to it. The Immaculate Conception is the patron saint of Spain, she is known as “La Purísima” in Nicaragua, through the image of Our Lady of “El Viejo”, and venerated as the “Virgin of Caacupé” in Paraguay.
