THE SEVEN SACRAMENTS OF THE CHURCH The seven sacraments mark the different important stages of the Christian life of believers, which are divided into three categories: Sacraments of Christian Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) that “lay the foundations of Christian life: the faithful reborn in Baptism, strengthened by Confirmation and are nourished by the Eucharist”;10 Sacraments of healing (Penance and Anointing of the Sick); Sacraments at the service of communion and mission (Order and Marriage). These sacraments can also be grouped into only two categories: They express the permanent character and leave an indelible mark on the one who receives them, and therefore can only be administered once to each believer. They are Baptism, Confirmation, Marriage and Orders; Those that can be administered repeatedly.
